Repair and Seal a Small Basketball Court on Your Company's Property
If you have a small basketball court on your company's property that is utilized by your employees during breaks, and the asphalt pavement has a small hole in its surface, repair it with the following steps. Once finished, seal the concrete to provide the asphalt with a smooth, protected surface.
Materials
- garden gloves
- wide push broom
- shop vacuum cleaner
- industrial-strength cleanser
- bucket
- water hose
- container of cold patch
- shovel
- trowel
- waterproof tarps
- asphalt sealant
- wide paint tray
- wide paint roller
- roller handle and frame
Sweep, Vacuum, and Clean the Pavement
Remove large pieces of debris from the asphalt by hand. Use a push broom that has a wide brush section to sweep dirt into a pile. If the section of the court that contains a hole has small fragments of asphalt stuck in its base, vacuum them up with a shop vacuum cleaner's hose. Prepare a cleaning agent to remove stains from the entire court's surface by filling a bucket with water and pouring a small amount of an industrial-strength cleanser into it.
Dip the sponge portion of a sponge mop into the cleaning agent and apply it to surface stains on the court. Move the mop rapidly back and forth over each dirty spot in order to eliminate all of them. Once the pavement is clean, use a strong stream of water to remove soapy residue from the court. Wait for the pavement to dry thoroughly.
Fill the Hole and Seal the Court
Use a small shovel to fill the hole in the court with cold asphalt patch. Move a trowel over the surface of the repaired area to smooth it out. Wait for the patch to harden. Afterwards, use tarps to cover the property that is located directly next to each side of the court. Pour the contents of a container of sealant into a wide paint tray. Secure a wide paint roller to an extension handle. Evenly coat the roller with sealant.
Move the roller across the asphalt pavement in straight lines. Add more sealant to the roller when it is needed. Once the pavement has been covered sufficiently, allow a day or two for it to dry. Once the sealant does not feel sticky when you touch a small section of it with your fingertips, remove the tarps from the ground. Your employees will now have a suitable area to use when they would like to play basketball.
